The impact of the COVID-19 on the education

According to the world health organization on December 31 of the year 2019 the Wuhan municipal health commission report a cluster of case of pneumonia in the Wuhan and on January 5 of 2020 the WHO report to the whole world of a new virus decease Call Covid-19 which was going to change the world as we knew it.

Slowly leaving the world in quarantine, and because of these regulations we had to stop all the “regular” activities that we were used to do, such as going out with friends, working, studying, exercising and other numerous activities, “lucky for us” nowadays we have technological devices that are used as tools to keep doing all those activities since the new normality of the world has become virtual.

Considering what is writing before many activities where impact by this new reality but in this case, I am going to talk about the changes suffer in the studying aspect. The COVID-19 pandemic has caused the biggest disruption of education in history, having a near universal impact on the teachers and students all around the globe as the UN said.

“By mid-April 2020, 94 per cent of learners worldwide were affected by the pandemic, representing 1.58 billion children and youth, from pre-primary to higher education, in 200 countries and during the second quarter 2020, 86 per cent of children in primary education have been effectively out of school in countries with low human development – compared with just 20 per cent in countries with very high human development” (UN,2020).

By analysing the previous quote unfortunately there was and there is a lot of people that are not assisting to school, which is creating a sedentary lifestyle and a lack of knowledge to all those who are not attending school and even the ones that are taking online classes, that in many cases they tend to don’t be at the online classes showing a lack of interest for the courses they are seeing and all this combine is leading to a deterioration of the quality of the education.

But that is not all because is also important to analyse some other aspects that are affecting the teachers and students of lower income that cannot rely in a good internet connection or they do not have the technological devices to be in the online courses and even if some countries are supporting measures to bring the digital learning device, there is not enough to cover all the parties affected.

Now talking by my own experience in the online education and what i can see from others near to me, is that  every change is difficult to embrace and overcome and this can be different depending on the person, there can be people that were able to change immediately,  there is others that are going to a thought process to learn how to manipulating the technological devices or the internet and finally there is the other part that don’t like or don’t trust this process of virtual reality so they are just quitting until they can go back to how we were before the pandemic, considering those categories I create, I think that I’m  well adapt into the new online education system even do is important to consider that  in this technological era and more when you are in home you get distracted since you are in your comfort zone, so you tend to look at your cell phone, talk to your friends, parents, look videos at YouTube and also set put the class and them start playing videogames or a numerous things to realise instead of being studying, those are the challenges that I have but I’m always doing my best to keep focus in the classes until the end and after that I’m free to do other activities

Feeling distracted? Here are 30 ideas to build your focus. (thedigitalworkplace.com)
